This past weekend was filled with several celebrations and time spent with family and friends. My dear grandpa turned 100 so we gathered with family to celebrate this momentous occasion. We are so grateful for his 100 years of loving, giving and teaching. We traveled to Wisconsin for a belated wedding reception for the son of Doug's cousin, Steve, and his new wife Annie. It was a charming reception by a lake. The added bonus was spending time with friends who live nearby. Hayley and Hannah have been friends since meeting as babies in China. Thanks, Mike and Sue, for your hospitality and friendship.
The morning after the reception, we gathered with some of Doug's extended family before heading for home. It was Doug's birthday so we made sure to surprise him with a cake. Happy birthday, honey!
The final highlight was getting fish for the girls. They were beyond excited. Unfortunately, Ava's excitement turned to dismay when her little fishy died the next day. Fortunately, she was not as distraught as Hannah was when her fish Nemo died a couple of years ago.
I'm amazed at how much we packed into our weekend. It was busy, but I'm so grateful for special times like these with family and friends. I'm also glad that not all weekends are this busy. :-)
