On our first day here in Guangzhou (Saturday), my former Chinese student Domy and his family came from Hunan for a visit. It was wonderful to see them all again. They had also come to Nanchang when we got Hannah. He was my student in 1994 when I taught for a summer with Sue in Changsha, Hunan with ELIC. He is a dear friend so it was so awesome to be together again with our families. He really enjoyed meeting my parents for the first time too. We went shopping together, out for dinner with our whole group, hung out in our hotel rooms, exchanged gifts, and went to church and lunch together on Sunday. They headed home on Monday. It was sad to say goodbye because we aren't sure when our paths will cross again.
Domy and his wife would love to have another baby but with the population control they are unable to here in China. His wife adores Hannah and Ava, and Domy's daughter Jessie treats Hannah like her little sister. It's really sweet, but sad too...helps us know that Chinese people love their children and would have more if they could.

Domy and his wife Xiao Yi kept wanting to hold Ava. Unfortunately, Ava wasn't very cooperative. :-) She kept crying and wanted her mom or dad...it is so amazing to us how quickly a little one can bond with their forever mom or dad. Finally on the last day, Ava let Domy hold her and actually smiled.
