Ava and Amy

A few weeks ago we went to Chicago (Lombard area) to reconnect with our friends the Schoonovers. They are actually from Fresno, California but were in Chicago visiting Al's mom. We met in China when we adopted Ava and they adopted Amy - they were part of our Bethany Travel Group. Karen and I became instant friends in China... our husbands think it's scary how similar we are and how much we have in common. We have both loved teaching 6th grade so that might explain some of it. :-) We were very disappointed to discover we lived so far from each other but vowed to keep in touch and get together when we could. We were very excited to find out they would be in Chicago after Christmas.

For the most part we just enjoyed hanging out and catching up at our hotel. It was so fun to see Amy and Ava together again - they had both changed so much in just 4 months. Amy had just started walking so I think she inspired Ava who started taking lots of steps over that weekend and has since started walking all the time. Karen and I enjoyed some shopping time together and with Abby and Hannah. Of course, we had to get matching outfits for our little girls which you'll see in the pics below. We also visited Al's mom and ate pizza with her. She let the big girls pick out some minatures from her collection and then told them all about each item. Hannah was in awe.

The weekend passed by way too quickly. We were sad to say goodbye but we plan to keep in touch and get together again when we can. We're hoping our travel group will have reunions like we do each year with Hannah's travel group.
