Christmas Day

Christmas Day began with a phone call that church had been cancelled due to the weather. While we were disappointed, we were also grateful to have a quiet and relaxing morning. We made sure to celebrate Jesus' birthday in our own way at home. Thankfully, our church was able to observe Christmas together a couple days later on that Sunday. I was so glad we could still sing our traditional finale of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus." My mom and I always sing together, but last year she was home struggling with Meniere's. This year we stood side by side, joyfully singing together. God is good!

In the morning, we opened our stockings and the girls each opened their Santa gift. Santa Daddy gave us some traditional British Christmas Crackers. Of course, we had to open them all to see the surprises and get our Christmas crowns...made me think of you, Nicky, and spending Christmas in Scotland. :-)

We spent the afternoon on Christmas with Doug's family. We had such a nice, relaxing time eating, opening gifts, and watching Polar Express. Hannah and Ava had so much fun hanging out with their older cousins. Hannah put her camera to good use since my camera isn't working. Most of these pictures were taken on Hannah's new camera. In the evening, we headed to my Aunt Lori's house where my mom's extended family had gathered. After more food and games we headed home. It was a busy day, but loads of fun.
