The Calm Before the Storm

The day started out like most days this month - hot and sunny. We headed north to my parents' trailer where we reconnected with some dear family friends who no longer live in the area. They have three daughters also adopted from China so it's fun to get our girls together. We enjoyed eating a yummy lunch, hanging out together and catching up. We had a "calm" and relaxing time.

After they left, we headed out on "Papa's boat." It was still hot and sunny. After a few trips around the lake, compliments of Captain Hannah and Captain Ava, the "weather started getting rough..." (if you are now humming Gilligan's Island, that's what I was going for) and we were suddenly caught in a downpour. There was no chance of staying dry. It was actually quite fun, aside from the ominous sky that made us want to be anywhere but out on a boat in the middle of a lake. Eventually, we made it safely back to dry land...well, just "land" since everything was soaking wet. Although our trip was cut short, I think the girls enjoyed the boating adventure in a storm. I'm just glad we made it safely back.
